Welcome to the Helston Railway - Revival, Cornwall.
Here are a selection of photos from the Railway as it is being rebuilt by volunteers.
The long term aim is to restore 3 miles of the former branch line from Gwinear Road to Helston. This would be from Nancegollen, to the north of Trevarno, to Helston Water-ma-Trout to the south.
Currently the track bed has been cleared from Gansey Farm to the north, and to Truthall Halt to the south.
Track has been laid to the first bend to the north of Trevarno Station and to about 100 yards south of the newly installed points, shortly before what has become known as the "Mound"! A new footbridge will be built here in the not too distant future.
Two Ruston & Hornby diesel shunters are on site together with a Park Royal DMU, which you may have seen at Gwinear Road where it first appeared in May 2006 from the West Somerset Railway.

Volunteer help is very much needed for a all sorts of things. For instance lineside fencing, a platform building , and help with the track laying team!
November 1st 2009:
At the open day on Sunday, 1st November, the new shop was opened by Alan Burton to much acclaim in the RES van at Trevarno Station. There was a good gathering of members and visitors to wander through the shop and purchase railway items, HRPS caps, badges, fleeces, pictures, cards and memorabilia.
October 29th 2009:
A mobile crane lifted the new footbridge into position today, just south of Trevarno Station - the "hump" can now be cleared away and made ready for tracklaying towards Truthall Halt. The bridge was built by a steel fabrication company in Helston.
September 2009:
The RES van is now on its own piece of track opposite the bay platform.
August 24th 2009:
The platform face to the running line is almost complete, and side to the Bay dug out to straighten the Bay platform line. RES van will be ready to move into position soon.
Thirty holes have been dug where the steel beams will be placed to hold back the platform wall.
Rail is now laid in the extra Bay for the RES van which should be moved into position by the end of July.
Weekending 20th June 2009, more rail and sleepers are due, and it is hoped this will be enough to relay the track to Truthall.
On Thursday, 4th June, 2009, the distinctive Rail Express Systems red and dark blue livery (RES) van No. 94148 NKA, was delivered from the West Somerset Railway. One third will be for the HRPC shop and the rest for a workshop.
A surprise visit to the Railway was made on Friday, 29th May, 2009, by the Shadow Transport Minister, Theresa Villiers, and Mr. George Eustace (prospective Conservative candidate for Cambourne & Redruth), and Mr. Martin Thomas (prospective Conservative candidate for St. Ives - including Helston).
A new supply of rail was delivered during the weekending the 16th May, 2009, to the Gansey Farm end of the railway. There is now enough rail to complete the track from Trevarno Station to Gansey Farm.
The two diesel shunters, the DMU, and brake van were moved to the siding on May 9th 2009.
There was a Helston Railway Exhibition held at the Helston Folk Museum, Church Street, Helston, from the 2nd May to the 15th May 2009.
A very successful "Open Day" was held on Sunday, 3rd May, 2009, at Trevarno Station. Walks were arranged to the north and south to show members and visitors the hard work the working party members were making.
A left hand turnout was installed at Trevarno Station during March 2009.
